Who is

Wake Up South Africa?

WuSA is a non-profit organisation, dedicated to sharing the principles of Bhakti Yoga for the benefit of society at large through five main objectives:

Teaching the practice of mantra meditation as a tool for alleviating stress and anxiety caused by the materialistic environment

Introducing local communities to the vast and timeless knowledge contained in Vedic literature.

Influencing the adoption of ethics and morality, as a basis for leadership structures within South Africa.

Providing practical support for adopting a lifestyle conducive for holistic mental, physical and spiritual health (e.g. vegetarianism, alcohol free living, abstinence and continence)

Offering alternative positive recreation for the youth in local communities.

WuSA is an affiliate of the International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON) and as such acts in accordance with the “Seven Purposes of ISKCON,”

stipulated in its incorporating documents, namely:

To systematically propagate spiritual knowledge to society at large and to educate all peoples in the techniques of spiritual life in order to check the imbalance of values in life and to achieve real unity and peace in the world.

To propagate a consciousness of Krishna as it is revealed in the Bhagavad-gita and Srimad Bhagavatam.

To bring the members of the Society together with each other and nearer to Krishna, the prime entity, and thus to develop the idea, within the members, and humanity, at large, that each soul is part and parcel of the quality of Godhead (Krishna).

To teach and encourage the Sankirtan movement of congregational chanting of the holy name of God as revealed in the teachings of Lord Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu.
